Stemmer Imaging has added the JAI AM-800CL monochrome and JAI AB-800CL8 colour megapixel CameraLink cameras to its range. These combine high resolution with high image fidelity and fast frame rates.
Both versions use the four-channel KAI-8050 sensor from Kodak, which provides a full resolution of 3296 x 2472 pixels at a frame rate of 17 frames/s in monochrome or Bayer format. Data output is via a digital standard CameraLink 8-, 10- or 12-bit interface. In addition, the AB-800CL includes internal colour interpolation and also enables 24-bit RGB output at a frame rate of 8.5 frames/s. Both cameras use Kodak's quad-tap architecture for quick image acquisition. They combine the four taps in two output channels for monochrome and Bayer scans or, in the case of interpolation in the camera, a single output channel. Internal channel balancing options ensure a uniform image.
The cameras enable a reduction of the number of lines (partial scan), multiple binning (AM-800CL only) and a large number of acquisition modes, such as continuous mode, single- or multi-acquisition. Extensive image pre-processing functions include auto gain, auto shutter and automatic white balancing, pixel error and flat-field corrections and a 256-point look-up table for gamma control.
Stemmer Imaging says the new 8-megapixel models have many specific features that ensure reliable performance in an industrial environment. These include precise sensor balancing as well as sophisticated thermal management and an integrated temperature sensor. The robust cameras are subjected to hard shock and vibration tests in order to guarantee their reliability under rough conditions. Both cameras can be ordered with C-Mount or F-Mount lens connection.
