Camlock Systems protects cash on luxury cruise liner

The new luxury cruise liner sailed on its maiden voyage in 2011. The Queen Elizabeth combines luxurious accommodation and ornate d©cor with the latest technology. The ship can accommodate over 2000 passengers and a crew of over 1000. Security problems might arise if each member of the crew had to carry money around with them and to hand over cash for each transaction.

With its Xen4 cabinet Protouch has developed a system to avoid cash transactions on board the Queen Elizabeth. Each crew member simply inserts his or her payment card into one of the machines and charges it using cash. After topping up, the card can be used for day-to-day expenditure on board. In order to protect the cash in the kiosks, Protouch selected the P491 high-security pushlock, designed and manufactured by Camlock Systems.

The mechanism of this lock uses Camlock's patented "Octagon' system which offers a major advantage in preventing unauthorised access with a duplicate key. A unique key combination is available for keyed alike suites of this robust and highly durable lock, which can be registered to provide the highest level of key control.
