Campaign to get UK manufacturers ready for North American market
PP Control & Automation (PPCA) is urging UK manufacturers targeting new growth opportunities in North America to avoid costly mistakes when trying to meet specific technical standards for the territory. PPCA provides strategic manufacturing outsourcing solutions for over 20 of the world's largest machinery builders, and has launched a new educational campaign centred on UL508a, a technical standard for industrial control panels in the United States.
Working with partners Rockwell Automation, Lutze and Product Approvals, PPCA is set to host a number of detailed virtual presentations that will be available to view or download, followed by an interactive Q&A platform. Tony Hague, CEO of PP Control & Automation explains: "North America is a massive untapped market for UK firms, but they operate differently and have many technical certifications that are different to trading with the EU. It can be very costly if you get them wrong".
The company says it has been working in the USA for more than a decade and has built up a great understanding of its complexities and how a UK supplier can make sure it meets the guidelines when it comes to UL508a. Tony Hague notes: "One of the biggest mistakes which UK companies make is believing that any control system - comprising a collection of individual components that individually meet UL standards - constitutes an overall solution. It doesn't!" says Tony Hague.
