Schaeffler launches new range of electric motors

Schaeffler is entering the electric motor manufacturing sector with a modular, highly integrated technology platform. This family of electric motors is designed for efficiency and a good price/performance ratio, and potential applications range from hybrid modules and dedicated hybrid transmissions (DHTs) through to electric motors for electric axle drives. Voltage ranges from 48V to 800V and performance classes from 15kW to over 300kW are possible. Volume production for a range of customer projects worldwide is set to begin in 2021. Schaeffler's worldwide network of manufacturing plants and special machinery and tool manufacturing facilities will be used to set up and operate the production lines. Schaeffler will be publicly presenting the electric motors - which were developed in-house and are ready for volume production - as complete systems for the first time at the IAA.

Video shows how twisterband guides cables for multiple turns

The igus twisterband range has further extended its reach by providing compact horizontal rotations of up to 7000 degrees, which is nearly 20 full-turns, and vertical rotations of 3000 degrees. At speeds of up to 180deg/sec, that is 30 full-turns in a minute. Made from lightweight, yet tough, advanced engineering polymers, twisterband HD features a strong pinned connection between each of its links for a longer service life.

Schaeffler launches XTRONIC Control Unit for autonomous vehicles

Remote monitoring and control are particularly important for autonomous vehicles. However, to date such functions have only been available in isolated systems or have been dependent on specific platforms. The XTRONIC Control Unit, on the other hand, combines safety, monitoring, operating, and comfort functions in a single system. The innovative system also makes a convincing case due to its wide range of interlinked, integrated components - from entertainment systems through to condition monitoring for vehicle components. The reliable interlinking of innovative driver assistance systems together with radar, lidar, ultrasound, and even artificial intelligence, therefore provides the technological basis for autonomous driving.

Ixthus to supply Riftek contactless tube ID measurement system

Developed for an Italian automation specialist and available as part of Riftek's expanding range of laser scanning pipe and tube inner diameter measurement systems, a new variant of the RF096 series laser probes speeds precision measurement inspection for tubular components. With direct interfacing to PROFINET equipped fieldbus controllers, the system combines a rotating triangulation laser and a motorised linear translation stage that together step & scan profiled or smooth inner diameters between 35 to 55mm for a measurement resolution of 3 microns and linearity of +/-15 microns over a bore depth range of 100mm. New material optimises insulation for igus chainflex cables

The trend for variable frequency drives (VFDs) is moving towards more compact drives with the same or a higher performance level than their predecessors. The more compact design of the motors can result in higher temperatures within the system, compared with larger ranges of the same motors. The result is that the cable heats up via the connector contacts.

Positek has increased its comprehensive range of precision sensors with new pressure transducer and temperature probe product lines along with dedicated instrumentation displays.
