High-spec chopper pumps to handle concentrated laboratory waste

P&M Pumps have recently secured another significant order for 12 Vaughan Vertical Pedestal pumps destined for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies, at their Biomedical Campus site in Cambridge. These 12 pumps will be vertical pedestal, high-specification Vaughan STPE3P6 models in all 316 stainless steel and CD4 (Duplex Stainless Steel) construction, driven by 7.5Kw motors. This is another example of the effective pumping approaches that P&M Pumps are providing for a wide range of "˜challenging' process applications in the UK.

InterVision's inline CanCheck system

Food quality and safety is something that we tend to take for granted when we visit our local grocery store or supermarket. Whilst we may often scan read the sell by or use by dates on fresh produce packaging, when it comes to canned products we will invariably pick the can from the shelf and place it straight into to the basket as we have come to place great trust in products of this type. At the heart of the quality, consistency and safety of some of the most widely recognised canned food products here in the UK are the high-speed machine vision systems designed and built by Warwickshire based InterVision Global.

Güdel gantry robot helps reduce composite manufacturing costs

Composite materials have become commonplace in a number of industries and have become the mainstay of component manufacture in many aerospace, defence, automotive, marine and consumer applications. Manufacturing large and complex three-dimensional components from composites however is often a time consuming and sometimes prohibitively costly process. As for other, more traditional manufacturing methods, automation could hold the key to cost-effective production of large composite components. The ATTOM Project (Affordable Tidal Turbines via Optimised Manufacture), just one of 17 integrated capability projects being delivered by The Composites Innovation Cluster under the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI), is supported by a number of technology partners, including Güdel UK.

Buffer modules pay for themselves by preventing downtime

Voltage fluctuations can cause serious problems. At Erdrich Umformtechnik, a mains voltage fluctuation caused a lathe control to fail and, consequently, considerable production losses. Erdrich now uses Murrelektronik's MB Cap Ultra 24/40 buffer modules to bridge voltage drops efficiently; these devices pay for themselves with the first outage they prevent.
