Passive distribution boxes prove to be best option for machines

ContiTech timing belts in hovercrafts of Griffon Hoverwork

In two new hovercrafts, British manufacturer Griffon Hoverwork is relying on timing belts with carbon tensile member from the ContiTech Power Transmission Group. At 5502mm and 4956mm, they are the longest endless polyurethane belts ever produced. They drive the propellers and turbines of the giant hovercrafts, which will operate between Portsmouth (England) and the Isle of Wight. The belts are made by ContiTech and Griffon Hoverwork in cooperation at the ContiTech site in Dannenberg.

BOURBON selects Renishaw in fleet standardisation strategy

BOURBON, which operates a global fleet of over 500 offshore support vessels for the oil and gas industry, has a policy to use laser position reference sensors as a key part of its programme to ensure the safety of operations and enhance the reliability of vessels. After a successful trial of a Fanbeam 5 system on one of BOURBON's Liberty series vessels in West Africa, the decision was taken to proceed with Renishaw as the sole supplier for both existing vessel DP upgrades and new-build vessels entering its fleet over the term of the agreement.

Atlas Copco delivers 50 tonne compressed air package to oilfield

Atlas Copco Compressors has completed delivery of a large custom-designed main air compressor package, weighing approximately 50 tonnes, to Baku, Azerbaijan for installation on a platform located 90km offshore in the Shah Deniz oilfield within the South Caspian Sea.
