Maxon Motor takes part in chase to catch up with a comet

After more than 10 years of travel through space, the European space probe Rosetta has reached the comet Chury. Three months from now, for the first time in the history of space travel, a lander will touch down on the surface of the 4km-wide comet. DC motors manufactured by Maxon are part of this pioneering feat.

Bearings in agricultural machinery

From a bearing manufacturer's point of view, agricultural machinery technology is one of the most challenging fields of application. The requirements that bearings must meet can be clearly illustrated by taking disc harrows as an example. With this attachment, the farmer loosens the soil, breaks it up into small pieces and thus prepares it for sowing. The individual moving discs are set at a slight angle and each disc is mounted on a separate arm attached to the harrow's frame.

1100mph wheel spin test uses Micro-Epsilon measurement sensors

XYZR gantry scanning system design and build by LG Motion

A novel motorised XYZR gantry scanning system with a combined vertical and rotary positioning axis that includes the ability to measure its force, position and velocity has been supplied to the Imperial College Non-Destructive Evaluation Group by LG Motion for a research project to evaluate critical aspects of a high-temperature strain-monitoring technique for use in power station steam lines and associated components.
