Citect is aiming to accelerate its growth in European and Middle Eastern markets with the appointment of Thomas Hinninger as General Manager for those regions. An industry professional with many years' experience in the industrial automation and real-time intelligence markets, Hinninger was formerly with GE Fanuc for eleven years, where he became Regional Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Prior to his time with GE Fanuc, Hinninger worked in the SCADA market with the (former) Intellution, which became part of GE Fanuc in 2003. At Intellution he was a Channel Manager, and then Sales Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Hinninger started his career as an application engineer at Siemens, working for the power industry division in hardware and software applications. In 1989 he joined ABB as a Project Engineer for the Pulp and Paper group and became the Engineering and Commissioning Manager in 1992; he led that company's Project Group successfully for four years.
Hinninger comments: "Now is a particularly exciting time to be joining Citect. Citect is the largest independent SCADA vendor in the world, and is also achieving impressive growth with its AMPLA MES system. The synergy of these two products means that Citect at the forefront in delivering the real-time improvements in productivity and efficiency, and the cost reductions demanded by global industry. At the same time, this synergy is bridging the gap between industrial automation and business IT systems, ensuring that management have true real time information flow, without compromising system performance and reliability."
Apart from his general management duties, Hinninger's major task will be developing and growing both Citect's partner channel and direct businesses throughout Europe and the Middle East. This will involve working closely with Citect's distributors, systems integrators and customers.
