Citect to be integrated within Schneider Electric
Citect, one of the world's leading providers of industrial automation software, is merging its field operations (sales, professional services and training) teams with those of parent company Schneider Electric and is announcing plans to further invest in R&D. The changes are designed to improve service to customers and further strengthen the development of the Citect software suite.
Christopher Crowe, Chief Executive Officer of Citect, says: "The combined expertise of the Citect and Schneider Electric automation field operations teams will give customers simpler but greater access to our integrated automation solutions, while our increased investment in research and development, and focus on service and support, should further drive up the value we offer customers."
Citect was acquired by Schneider Electric in 2006 and since then the companies have achieved an average growth of 20 per cent in the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) business, based on their dual brand strategy encompassing Vijeo Citect and CitectSCADA. Vijeo Citect, Schneider Electric's branded version of the CitectSCADA software, was developed by Citect to offer customers the choice of integrated Schneider Electric hardware and software.
In addition to the field operations teams involved in this organisational change, Citect maintains a network of more than 500 partners located in Asia/Pacific, South Africa, Europe and the Americas. The network will maintain its current structure, with Citect's European HQ focusing on supporting its indirect channel on a global basis.
Paul Hurst, Country Manager for Citect UK, says: "In the UK, the integration process has commenced and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Our objective is to be able to more expertly address customers' needs for a hardware and software solution, with customers benefiting from our combined automation expertise. Further details about the integration process within the UK will become available soon. In the meantime, please rest assured: you as our customers will continue to be supported by the contact person you know and have an established relationship with."
Both the Vijeo Citect and CitectSCADA products, as well as Vijeo Historian and CitectSCADA reports will continue to be available to customers.
The new organisation will come into effect on 1 January 2009.
