Compact 5 port Ethernet switch for tight space applications

Brainboxes is giving a preview of their new compact Ethernet Switch at the IFB 2016. The SW-505 is an instant-install, unmanaged Ethernet 5-port switch designed to give multiple reliable Ethernet ports in those tight cabinet spaces.

The International Festival of Business takes place 13 June to 1 July 2016. As a Liverpool business, which exports worldwide, Brainboxes is pleased to welcome this trade and manufacturing expo back to the city. As part of Brainboxes' involvement with this year's events the company is exhibiting and demonstrating its range of control and automation products as well as giving a first look at its industrial Switch product.

Luke Walsh, Managing Director of Brainboxes, comments: "After talking to engineers who were installing our Switches we realised that size really does matter. You don't always have a choice on site about what size enclosure to install and you can get really stuck physically trying to get all the equipment in. We already knew that space is a premium on the DIN rail which prompted the development of our slim DIN mount case. This new compact switch is not only narrow but comes out just 94mm giving a front facing connection you can still shut the cabinet door on"

Brainboxes' SW-505 10/100 MB/s Ethernet switch, with galvanically isolated ports with broadcast storm protection, provides safe operation in tough environments and extreme temperatures between -40degC to +80degC (-40degF to +176degF). It uses a 2K packet size to enhance bulk data transfer and optimise system performance. The SW-505 is encased in a non-conductive plastic for enhanced safety, particularly important for electrical wiring in cabinet spaces.

As with all Brainboxes Ethernet Switches reliability is further enhanced with redundant dual power inputs between +5V to +30V DC meaning a second power supply can be fitted as a back-up to prevent down time should one power source fail. The power input range means the SW-505 can be run from: a 24V DC factory floor supply; a standard car battery, making it well suited for in-vehicle and aboard boats; or even a computer USB port, using an optional accessory cable (PW-650).

Easy to install into your existing network and taking up minimal space, the SW-505 is slim in size at just 21mm wide and 94mm deep, comes with a DIN rail clip to speed up mounting inside a cabinet and designed with an "˜easy wire' feature using removable, numbered terminal blocks. Power consumption is optimised for efficiency with a power down mode for when the device is inactive.

The SW-505 unmanaged Ethernet 5-port switch has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of £55. Find more information at www.brainboxes.com.
