Compact high-current Hall-effect sensors

Harting is adding two new high-current models to its range of Hall-effect current sensors. In addition to offering primary current measurements at up to 200A and 300A, respectively, the new models are only half the size and weight of previous versions. They also operate over a wider temperature range, from -40degC to +85degC, allowing them to be deployed in thermally critical applications.

The new sensors use the closed-loop measurement principle, which provides a direct representation of the primary current with an accuracy of up to +/-0.5 per cent. They can measure both direct and alternating currents, as well as signals with complex waveforms, over a frequency range from 0 to 100kHz. A particular benefit of these devices is high resistance to interference from magnetic fields generated by external current-carrying conductors.

Harting's sensors come in a range of standard sizes and their compact construction offers a high degree of freedom for integration into individual applications. Typical applications are in photovoltaic inverters, frequency converters or power supplies for welding applications.
