Concens compact in-line electric actuators from Vipa

Vipa is introducing the Concens compact in-line electric actuators that feature a permanent-magnet DC motor and planetary gear train within the slender cylindrical body. These actuators are offered in a choice of sizes (con35 and con50) and coloured finishes, and there are stainless steel versions. This style of actuator is believed to be unique.

To complement the actuators, the C2-04 and C2-15 controllers include ramps, soft start, current limiting and dynamic braking. In addition, the C2-20 controller uses Hall-effect devices for high-accuracy positioning, and offers users 15 programmable parameters. And the C3 control system provides wired or battery-powered, wireless control of the actuators: if required, a single handset unit can control up to 20 actuators, with synchronisation of two axes.

con35 actuator

This actuator is 35mm in diameter and features a powder-coated steel housing and aluminium piston. It is sealed to IP66S and is equipped with polyamide or aluminium mountings. A 12/24V permanent-magnet DC motor and planetary gear set deliver a maximum thrust of 2200N with a speed (at maximum load) of 3 to 33m/s, depending on the gear ratio specified. Standard stroke lengths are from 50 to 750mm. These compact units are also lightweight; for example, an actuator of 100mm stroke weighs just 0.9kg.

con50 actuator

This actuator is larger at 50mm in diameter, but is otherwise similar to the con35. Load capacity is 4500N and maximum speed is 4-70mm/s, depending on the gear set specified.

All actuators are available with optional approvals, including IP68, IP69K, ATEX, UL/EN 60601 and in stainless steel. RAL colours and customisation are also available on request.

Typical applications for these products will be found in factory automation, special-purpose machines, food and beverage production and packaging equipment, medical devices and marine equipment.
