**Step 1:**As we know, a whole of something is equal to 100%. In this case, we want to find what 1% of 179 is. We know that 100% of 179 is, well, just 179.**Step 2:**If 100% of 179 is 179, then we can get 1% of 179 by dividing it by 100. Let's do 179 / 100. This is equal to 1.79. Now we know that 1% is 1.79.**Step 3:**Now that we know what 1% of 179 is, we just need to multiply it by 1 to get our solution! 1.79 times 1 = 1.79. That's all there is to it!
