ContiTech now offers Rotafrix friction rings with wheel bodies

ContiTech Vibration Control is expanding its product portfolio for Rotafrix friction rings. Recently, drive components in a variety of sizes have been available as a package including the corresponding wheel bodies. Frank Dahmen, head of industrial sales at ContiTech Vibration Control says: "In this way, we are offering our customers what is currently a unique service."

Friction rings by ContiTech are used in rolling-contact transmissions and for the low-noise transmission of rotational movement, meaning they contribute to setting various equipment in motion including tube and ball mills, industrial laundry systems, and hoisting plants for mining. Made from special elastomers, they provide powerful transmission forces and economical drive systems. In drum drives, they have two roles. The load-bearing elements support the reels and the material inside therefore reducing vibrations, and they also transfer the energy required to rotate the drum. In practical use, they stand out for their long service life, small space requirements, and easy assembly.

In comparison with friction wheels, friction rings are not permanently vulcanised to a rim, but they are simply fitted to a wheel body. Up to now, the conveyor unit operators had to provide, or even produce, the wheel body required themselves. In order to simplify the process for customers, ContiTech has developed a package, meaning that ContiTech friction rings can now be ordered directly with the corresponding wheel bodies. Dahmen explains: "The friction ring and friction body are perfectly matched, allowing optimal interaction. By providing this service, we are simplifying the fitting of new systems and offering cost-effective package solutions for retrofitting."

Further information about the Rotafrix friction rings and friction wheels can be found on the ContiTech website at www.contitech.de/avx. In addition to the standard designs with a diameter of 60 to 1300mm, custom changes are also available to customers upon request.
