Control Techniques to exhibit automation offerings at SPS 2019

Control Techniques is presenting its full suite of automation technologies at 2019's SPS exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany (Nov 26-28). Visitors to the Control Techniques stand (Hall 4, Stand 250) will see a host of fresh products and offerings from the drives specialists, including details of its free five-year warranty on Commander general purpose drives, an enhanced servo drive offer and all-in-one free-standing high-performance drive system.

The stand will be laid out according to Control Techniques' four main product families; high performance, servo, general purpose and integration. Each area will showcase the products Control Techniques uses to meet its customers' needs, along with stories outlining real-world examples.

Centre stage at the Control Techniques stand will be the reborn Commander series, comprising two variations of general purpose drives which replaced the Control Techniques Unidrive M200 and M300 drives. Their small footprint - among the smallest in their class - makes Commander well suited for machine builders and OEMs, where size really matters. Distribution partners are also finding value in Commander's positioning as the general-purpose drive from the drive specialists, particularly when factoring in the free five-year warranty deal.

Highlights in the High Performance section include Control Techniques' Free Standing Drive system. This system comes ready to use, pre-assembled in its own industry standard cabinet with all necessary system components included. The Free Standing Drive complements and extends the existing Control Techniques drive range, sharing the same common control platform. This ground-breaking system requires no extra engineering, has a small footprint and is easy to integrate into existing cubicle setups. A door-mounted HMI and real time clock also provide easy set-up, maintenance and monitoring. Elsewhere, the Unidrive M family of high-performance drives continues to go from strength to strength, consolidating its reputation for superior connectivity and motor control.

Huge power, small footprint

There will also be an exclusive preview of Control Techniques' forthcoming Frame Size 12 drive, the largest ever produced by the company, and one which enables it to service customers requiring huge power (500kW) - which can be paralleled - from a small footprint. Frame 12 is characterised by its simple installation; a single user can install it into an existing standard-size cubicle, although Control Techniques will be offering the drive as part of a pre-engineered cubicle. On-site serviceability is a key factor too; sub-assemblies make replacing individual components simple, and all work can be done on-site. This reduces downtime, which is furthered helped by the fact on-site drive exchanges can be carried out in under 30 minutes by a single engineer.

Control Techniques' servo offer has also grown; visitors at SPS Drives will be able to learn more about Digitax SF, the company's new low-power, easy-to-use servo offering, which is optimised to work with servo motors from the Nidec Sankyo portfolio. Digitax SF complements the expanding Digitax HD family of modular servo drives and will be prominent alongside the Unimotor series of high-performance servo motors from Control Techniques Dynamics.

Finally, new integration products will highlight the increasing ways in which Control Techniques' drives can work with any existing ecosystem. New products like the SI-Interbus option module and PLC Controlled Motion increase the capabilities of drives across all ranges, while two new dedicated HMI panels improve user operation.
