Bright, efficient and safe LED lighting for industrial machinery is detailed on the Techdrives website. These new lamps manufactured by Patlite give white, yellow or red illumination from a safe low-voltage 24V supply. Compared to fluorescent lamps, these light bars and spotlights have much lower energy consumption and therefore reduced heat generation. This makes them environmentally friendly and suitable for use in enclosed spaces.
LED light bars are characterised by long life, high efficiency and low heat generation. With a lamp lifetime in excess of 100,000 hours, they are effectively maintenance-free. Typical power consumption is remarkably low, at just 5W, so very little heat is radiated to the surrounding air. This is a significant advantage when lighting is needed in enclosed spaces such as control panels, or in very close proximity to machine operators.
White light bars with IP42 enclosures are available in standard lengths of 100, 200 and 332mm. These have LEDs in a polycarbonate housing and give light levels up to 300 lux at 500mm. Light bars with IP67 protection are available made from a number of LED spotlights in an aluminium housing. White is most popular, but these units are also available in yellow and red. The 208mm long version is outputs 1700 lux at 500mm with light that has no infrared or ultra violet rays.
Where a spotlight is needed rather than a spread of light, individual spotlights can be supplied with either IP65f or IP67f protection. From a power supply of only 3W at 24V, they deliver white light of 500 lux at 1m.
