DB-Automation wins order for robotic automation system
DB-Automation has recently won an order from a major UK plastic moulder for automating the de-mould and closure of a living hinge product. A Sepro Cartesian robot will form the basis of the automation system, with Sepro being a strategic partner of DB-Automation.
The automation system is to sit alongside a 320 tonne moulding machine; after de-moulding, the living hinge will be closed, the product will be checked and either accepted or rejected according to certain criteria.
By using a platen-mounted Cartesian robot, DB-Automation has saved valuable floorspace for its customer, which was an important consideration due to the severe space constraints within the factory.
DB-Automation's close working relationship with Sepro will result in a seamless integration of the whole system at the client's facility, once commissioning trials have been completed at DB-Automation's Leicestershire base.
