DC/DC converters for the solar industry

New solution supplies the system directly from the field

DC/DC converters for the solar industry

The new DC/DC converter of the TRIO product family from Phoenix Contact supplies the system directly from the field. “A reliable power supply is guaranteed, even without a central grid,” says the company.

“With an input voltage range of 450 V DC to 1,650 V DC, the device is ideally suited in particular to all photovoltaic systems, but can also be used in other applications. It complies with the EN 62109 standard and ensures the safe operation of the system,” it adds.

Direct and immediate supply

The DC/DC converter enables the direct and immediate supply of the string monitoring function within device connection boxes. “The electrical safety up to 1,650 V DC is confirmed via partial discharge measuring and is the prerequisite for safe system operation in the high-voltage range up to 1,500 V DC.”

Along with the increased partial-discharge resistance, safe operation is also said to be possible during brief overvoltages of up to 1,800 V DC, due to the new switching topology for various grounding concepts. “The robust design and the wide temperature range of -25°C to 70°C ensure high system availability. The Push-in technology supplements this with quick and easy installation, even directly in the field.”
