Discover the practical aspects of PROFINET, PROFIBUS & IO-Link

Planned events will highlight new supported technologies, protocol basics and benefits to UK industry

PROFIBUS & PROFINET International - PI UK has two free online regional events planned, one in England (Birmingham, 17, November 2021) and the other in Scotland (Strathclyde, 24 March 2022), where it will share valuable insights on new supported technologies and a host of other important issues.

“The agenda has changed slightly to pack in even more useful information, such as an update on Advanced Physical Layer and information on how to get Certified PROFIBUS or PROFINET Installer, Designer or Engineer qualifications remotely,” the company confirms.

“Hence these events will be of even great value to designers, production/system engineers, instrument technicians/engineers and C&I engineers involved in the design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and process plant.”

This is what is currently planned (subject to change), with topics including:

  • Highlights of new supported technologies, the protocol basics and their benefits to UK industry
  • PROFINET network design covering fundamental principles that must be considered at the design stage of an automation system
  • Network gateway technology with demonstrations of PROFINET to Profibus DP, PA, IO-Link and OPC UA
  • Industrial network commissioning and testing: how to simplify the process, prevent failures and resolve cable and network issues faster
  • PROFIBUS and PROFINET device configuration tools and FDI with a live demonstration of PROFIBUS and PROFINET configuration
  • Update on Advanced Physical Layer
  • Update on Industry 4.0, IIoT, TSN, APL and Big Data, showing how PROFINET is placed as the ideal network for all of these
  • Distance Learning: How to get Certified PROFIBUS or PROFINET Installer, Designer or Engineer qualifications remotely.

The free-to-attend seminars will address the key practical issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications, with particular attention being paid to Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Key application areas

Covering key application areas such as control systems and energy management, pulp & paper, chemical, utilities, pharmaceutical, packaging and printing, mechanical handling and logistics, robotics, automotive engineering, electrical and electronics assembly, it focuses on the practical aspects of using PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and IO-Link, from system design and safety & security considerations through to fault-finding and maintenance.
