Drive Lines and Exico UK combine expertise for bespoke products

Drive Lines was founded in Bedford 30 years ago and offers a range of power transmission components which span the entire drive train, with products for applications as diverse as high-precision machine tools to heavy industries. Its rotary transmission components include MS Graessner and ZF Gearboxes, R+W precision couplings and torque limiters as well as a selection of brake and clutch components. It also boasts an extensive range of linear transmission products which include mechanical screw jacks, linear actuators and linear bearings that can be coupled with Exico electric motors and other accessories to create a complete lifting or positioning system.

Exico's motor range is wide and includes single phase and three-phase motors (IE1, IE2, and IE3), ATEX explosion-proof motors; marine motors; medium and high voltage motors, two-speed motors, etc. To support these, Exico also offers variable speed drives, gearboxes, and accessories such as brakes and fans. These are all supplied from the company's warehouse in Wellingborough, Northants.

Sales Director at Exico Lucie Hodkova says: "We are just up the M1 from Drive Lines and pretty much in the centre of the nation's motorway network, so are well placed to support clients wherever they are."

The Exico name was re-established in the UK in late 2014, 10 years after being absorbed into a global conglomerate. Since then it has built a network of regional distributors and stockists and also forged relationships with specialist companies like Drive Lines.

Lucie says: "Electric motors have been around for over 100 years, so you might assume that their fundamental technology is fully developed. But that is not the case, they are always evolving - most recently their energy efficiency has been increasing significantly.

"This is great when we are working with Drive Lines because on the more unusual projects it often means that customers are making full use of the latest developments."
