Abssac is supplying the entire range of ETP hydraulic hub-shaft connections in the UK. The scientist Blaise Pascal formulated the principle of pressure propagation in liquids many years ago: Pascal's law, or the principle of transmission of fluid pressure, states that "pressure exerted anywhere in a confined incompressible fluid is transmitted equally in all directions throughout the fluid such that the pressure ratio (initial difference) remains the same." ETP hydraulic locking bushes utilise the many positive qualities of this principle and the manufacturer has continued to develop the product range further so that the locking technology can be applied reliably and accurately in industrial applications. Watch the short video below to see how the bushes work - and how easy they are to use (NB this video has no sound).
The ETP POWER product is fast and efficient for positional locking of hubs or shafts thanks to a trusted double-walled hardened steel sleeve filled with a specially developed pressure medium, plus a flange. ETP-POWER is available as standard for shaft diameters of 15-40mm, resulting in minimal runout of just 0.03mm. The number of mountings available is 200-500, depending on the size selected. As the name suggests, ETP POWER is for higher torque applications. Watch the short video below to see how the ETP-POWER bushes work - and how easy they are to use (NB this video has no sound).
All ETP products consist of a double-walled hardened steel (or stainless steel) sleeve that is filled with a liquid. In the flange there are one or more screws and a piston with seals for setting the pressure. When the pressure screw is tightened, pressure in the fluid is raised, which creates an even and moderately high surface pressure against the shaft and hub, causing the locking effect. The self-contained product enables this procedure to be repeated many times.
Whether the hubs are to be removed or repositioned, mounting and dismantling is achieved in just a few seconds. The hydraulic principle gives immediate advantages for today's modern machines. The compact designs also ensure better concentricity and balance at increased machine speeds, shorter downtime for servicing, and increased precision. The ETP products are available in the UK through Abssac.
For larger machines and heavier loads, the ETP-HYLOC and ETP-HYCON (HYCON S/SX and HYCON F/FX) series are robust, compact and capable of transmitting high torques and radial loads. Designed for reliability, to withstand high loads yet also allow quick mounting and dismantling of large shafts, the hubs are suitable for applications in difficult environments and heavy operations such as the steel and marine industry. Models are available for shaft sizes between 50mm and 220mm, with installation and disassembly times dramatically reduced compared with keyways or taper lock alternatives.
The ETP-OCTOPUS models use an external pressure source for pressure setting and mounting. This makes mounting extremely fast and also allows for the intelligent pressurisation of several connections simultaneously.
As part of a continuous development programme, ETP products are enhanced and adapted for custom applications. Taking advantage of the wealth of product knowledge and expert engineering knowledge enables the ETP product principle to be integrated within many new and interesting applications. In short, Abssac can provide customised hydraulic clamping hubs in co-operation with OEMs. Follow the links above for more information about specific models of hydraulic clamping hub or contact Abssac to discuss customisation.
