HBM's EasyOptics module for the catmanAP enables users to simultaneously acquire and visualise signals from optical and electrical strain gauges, giving critical help when comparing different strain gage measurements.
With optical sensor technology based on Fibrr Bragg gratings the module is excellent, for example, for measurements on fibre-reinforced plastics, in potentially explosive atmospheres and on high-current and high-voltage technology components.
Fibre Bragg gratings are inscribed into fibreglass or optical fibres and can be used, for example, for strain measurement. By developing its optical strain gauges, HBM has ensured that measurements are substantially easier and more convenient to complete accurately.
A major advantage of optical strain gauges is that they can be arranged in series on a single fibre of glass, saving users connection time and reducing weight when compared with conventional wiring.
Optical strain gauges are installed exactly as electrical strain gages: once the measuring point has been prepared, the optical strain gauge is positioned and bonded using traditional strain gauge adhesives. No new skills are needed for installation.
The EasyOptics module complements HBM's extensive range of experimental stress analysis products. These include optical strain gauges (SG) and measurement systems (interrogators) for connecting the strain gauges as well new add-ons to HBM's catmanAP software.
