Eaton "˜Follows the Charge' at Hannover Messe 2013

Eaton is showcasing its new ideas and products for power management and efficient machines at this year's Hannover Messe under the slogan "Follow the Charg". From 8-12 April visitors to the company's stand (C69, Hall 11) can find out how to meet both current and future challenges posed by rapidly growing energy demand through power management systems.

Eaton

Highlights will include a working machine that will demonstrate how Eaton's "Lean Solution' strategy combines Lean Connectivity (connection and communication technology), Lean Automation (automation technology) and Lean Power (power management technology) to offer resource and time savings and maximise optimisation of machines and plants for increased performance. Lean Power innovations incorporated in the model will include the new PowerXL variable speed drives, PKE motor starters with SmartWire-DT interface for improved monitoring and analysis.

Eaton will also be showcasing other new products such as its EMS electronic motor starters up to 3kW. These combine four functions in a single switching device, as well as the safety-related shutdown of the drive, enabling the user to make savings in mounting and device costs due to the reduction in wiring needed - up to 60 per cent - and the sharing of hardware components. Another new product on show will be the easyRemote display app which provides users with control of the Eaton easy800 control relay from a smartphone, enabling them to communicate with the controller without entering noisy and dangerous areas. Visitors to the stand will also be able to see Eaton's new signal towers (SL7 and SL4) which provide excellent visibility so that plant operators can identify faults quickly and precisely, leading to increased system availability. The mounting and disassembly time when transporting machines is reduced thanks to their handy bayonet fitting.

For power distribution and management Eaton is presenting new communication-enabled drawer units for Motor Control Centres (MCCs) with a SmartWire-DT connection. These offer integrated communication to enable extensive diagnostic functions, simplify troubleshooting and reduce plant downtimes. Eaton will also be showcasing xEffect; a comprehensive new switchgear series for industrial power distribution up to 1600A for the machine and system building, shipbuilding and renewable energy sectors.

Eaton is also demonstrating its expertise in the field of switchgear for Medium Voltage networks with the SF6-free Xiria E, specifically developed for use in the distribution substations of utility companies, as well as for industrial applications. The modular system enables the implementation of space saving and expandable energy management. For smart grid applications, Eaton will show the Power Xpert FMX and UX Medium Voltage systems.

Power quality products

In the field of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), cooling, plant monitoring and network connection, Eaton will also be showcasing power quality products, particularly for data centre and industrial applications. As well as UPSs, this includes surge protection devices, switchboards, rack mount Power Distribution Units (PDUs), remote monitoring, software, communication components, enclosures and related services. The highlights in Hannover will include the new 93PM UPS (30-50kW), that stands out on account of its excellent 96.7 per cent efficiency in double conversion mode.

At the same time, the Eaton Hydraulics Group will be presenting its electro-hydraulic products in Hall 21, Stand F03. These focus on reducing energy consumption and production costs, as well as enabling detailed machine diagnostics.
