Thomson Industries has introduced a video highlighting its Electrak XD actuator. The video illustrates how the XD has ushered in the next evolution of electric actuators with strength to take on traditionally hydraulic applications while, at the same time, being smarter, smaller and more efficient than competitive technologies.
Thomson says the Electrak XD represents a new level of load-handling capability, tackling dynamic loads up to 25,000 N (5000 lbs). Highlighting its performance are duty cycle up to 100%, strokes up to 1200 mm and speeds up to 75 mm/s (3 in/sec).
Håkan Persson, global product director for linear actuators at Thomson, commented on the significance of the Electrak XD’s capabilities: “Thomson has always been at the forefront of advancing actuators, continuously pushing boundaries to improve performance and efficiency. Our Electrak XD exemplifies our commitment to engineering excellence and innovation, as it can now handle tasks that were previously limited to hydraulic systems. This groundbreaking technology showcases our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our customers.”
This video explores the XD’s suite of built-in features, which include an internal load holding brake, an optional manual override, and a manual release option that allows for load disengagement without requiring power. The actuator is equipped with advanced control features that provide real-time monitoring and diagnostics of speed, position, and applied force, enabling designers to streamline system design and enhancing flexibility.
The video is an invaluable resource for design engineers seeking a deeper understanding of the Electrak XD’s capabilities and applications.
