With a wide range of potential applications, Schaefflers P.ACT linear actuators offer UK machine builders high power density with improved energy efficiency compared to hydraulic and pneumatic systems
New to the UK market, P.ACT linear actuators from Schaeffler are protected by a strong, hexagonal-shaped aluminium housing which is rated up to class IP65S. They can be flexibly configured via a modular design platform, which enables them to be individually tailored to specific applications together with other Schaeffler components. Integrated T-slots along the entire length of the actuator enable various fixing points and options for the actuator and its accessories.
The manufacturer states that P.ACT linear actuators can be used as both ‘force’ actuators and as precision positioning systems. A basic actuator version (or a driven version) are available in two sizes (ACT15 and ACT25). Options include an integrated high performance linear measuring system, additional position switches for setting the switching point, servo motors, and controllers with Ethernet and/or digital I/O.
Schaeffler sees the combination of high performance and high energy efficiency in a compact design allowing the P.ACT series to be used in new application areas such as commercial and off-road vehicles. The company says that they can combine with its PWG planetary screw drive and ZKLF spindle bearing supports to deliver power with precision, whilst being up to 20% more effective than hydraulic systems, and up to 50% more effective than pneumatic systems.
