Solution enables one-size-fits-all solution for monitoring empty and overflow in process plants and tank applications

Elobau has expanded its range of products for monitoring fill levels with a cable-mounted reed-based immersion float switch. These immersion sensors, also known as immersion float switches, are used for applications such as tank monitoring and for empty and overflow control in process technology.

The float level sensor is mounted from above in the vessel and is completely submerged when the tank is full. “In contrast to conventional float switches with a rigid riser tube, the use of robust PUR cables allows variable switching heights with freely adjustable switching points and flexible installation, even in hard- to-reach applications,” says Elobau.

One for all

“In keeping with the motto ‘One size fits all’, developers and designers can individually adjust the switching points via the cable length and cable gland,” adds Elobau. A PA6 mounting module is optionally available, either with a G1 thread for applications, with only one immersion float switch, or a G2 thread for up to four immersion float switches. The number of immersion float switches used determines the number of possible switching points.

Users can choose between normally open and normally closed contacts by simply turning the float. The housing of the 20991102 is stainless steel. The immersion float switch is said to be ideal for level detection of water, oil and chemicals in tank and process engineering applications.

Reed all about it

Thanks to the reed technology, IP68 protection class (DIN EN 60529), switching voltages of up to 48 V and a temperature range from -40°C to +90°C, the immersion switch meets the most common requirements for industrial use. “The flexibility of use and adjustability of switching points eliminates the requirement of multiple types of immersion switches. This saves both storage space and costs for unused spare parts,” states Elobau.
