Embrace automation and elevate productivity

Industrial automation (IA) is no longer a nice-to-have, but a necessity. Something that more and more plant managers are now considering. Richmond Averill, Schaeffler UK's Industrial Automation OEM Sales Engineer, discusses how emerging trends in IA are impacting Schaeffler and its OEM customers in terms of reskilling of labour and how robots can boost accuracy and productivity.

Industrial automation technologies are rapidly expanding across the manufacturing landscape, and in order to stay ahead of the curve, businesses must keep up with emerging technological advancements and retrain their workforce to blend traditional manufacturing knowledge and digital automation expertise.

At Schaeffler, automation and employees work alongside each other for the benefit of the business, as well as their employees. Richmond Averill comments: When mundane, repetitive and dangerous tasks are carried out via robots and other automation technologies, companies will benefit from fewer sickness days, safer workplaces and higher precision production assembly processes.

In the UK, Schaeffler works closely with the developers and designers of machines that are sold industry-wide to help manufacturing end users automate their production processes. Our focus is on helping machinery designers develop more reliable, energy efficient machines using our products and services says Averill.

Automation is happening everywhere, in every sector of our economy. Adapting to the changes of automation technology is vital - if not, businesses run the risk of getting left behind.
