Entry-level HMIs are sealed to IP65
Siemens Industry Automation division is introducing a new series of operator panels for simple applications. The new Basic Panels from the Simatic HMI (human-machine interface) range have basic functions for operator control and monitoring; for example, they can be used for integrated alarm systems, recipe management and trend curve functions.
The Simatic HMI Basic Panels are sealed to IP65, making them suitable for use in demanding industrial environments. The first delivery stage comprises a large 15inch device with a TFT touchscreen with 256 colours. A 10inch version also has keys with tactile feedback.
Depending on the version, integrated Profinet/Ethernet, Profibus or MPI/PPI interfaces are available for communication.
The Simatic HMI Basic Panels are mounting-compatible with the Simatic HMI touchscreens already available and, like these, are configured with the fully scalable Simatic WinCC engineering software package. This offers users the option of switching at any time to devices in other performance classes or with other display sizes. The range is further extended by devices with small displays.
