ERD Stainless Steel Linear Actuators designed for washdown
Recently introduced by Motion Control Products Ltd, the new ERD22 electric rod linear actuator from Tolomatic is a low-cost, versatile replacement for pneumatic cylinders and an alternative to manual processes. With force capabilities up to 7000N (1700 lbf), the all-300 series stainless-steel ERD22 is a standard catalogue item featuring hygienic design and IP69k rating. Suitable for medium-force washdown applications, the ERD22 linear actuator is USDA-approved for meat, poultry and dairy applications such as pumping, fluid dispensing, volumetric filling, slicing, cutting and chopping.
ERD22 is the smallest of the hygienic group and a good performance and cost option for smaller-force requirements than the larger ERD25 and ERD30 actuators. As an economical electric actuator platform, the ERD linear actuators provide excellent efficiency and operating flexibility over their pneumatic counterparts.
The ERD series electric linear actuator is now available in seven body sizes, with stroke lengths up to 1016mm (40 inches), speeds up to 1460.5mm/sec. (57.5 inches/sec.), and forces up to 20,000N (4500 lbf), depending on the size and screw choice. The product family is available with ball screws, roller screws and acme screws for a variety of cost, force, speed and life options to fit most applications. In addition to food and beverage processing, ERD electric actuators are well suited for a variety of motion control applications including product changeovers, gating/sorting/diverting, pick and place and heat staking/sonic welding.
In combination with the company's ACS servo system (motors & drives), the ERD creates a complete, low-cost, single-axis linear motion system. The ACS servo controller and servo drive simplifies linear motion with easy setup and infinite positioning with EtherNet/IP CIP I/O command. The ACS is ODVA conformant.
