Now available in the UK from Orthos, the new Rembe Q-Box II flameless explosion venting system for indoor and outdoor applications combines enhanced safety with cost-savings and greater plant layout flexibility, with easy installation directly on to a flat surface.
Absorbing dust explosion flame and heat, the system is suitable for industrial plants with low pressure resistance and the need for large venting areas.
An advanced development from the company's original Q-Rohr indoor venting system and the original Q-Box design, the Q-Box II provides an improved maximum KSt value up to 200bar.m/s and allows plant designers to position machines and equipment according to process requirements and thereby optimise production. It incurs no maintenance or operational costs and is claimed to be more economical than active suppression systems.
Two standard sizes, 305 x 610mm and 586 x 920mm, are available with maximum effective areas of 1100cm2 and 3500cm2, respectively, and other sizes are offered on request. Typical applications include protecting bucket elevators and conveying systems, dust filters, silos and bunkers.
The basic venting principle is to cool flame gases within a special stainless steel mesh filter, leading to a reduction of expanding gas volume as it extinguishes the flame. The Q-Box II system includes the bursting panel, gasket and signalling unit and fits standard rectangular bursting panel sizes.
