Factory-approved drive servicing, tailored to your needs

Protect your investment and avoid downtime efficiently and effectively. ABB’s preventive maintenance services can help you to maximise uptime, eliminate performance drift and significantly reduce the likelihood of failures.

Regular maintenance is essential to keep your drive running optimally. ABB’s UK-based drive workshop provides comprehensive factory-level testing, diagnostics and servicing, with fast turnarounds.

A dedicated workshop in Coalville, Leicestershire, provides comprehensive inspection, maintenance and testing procedures that are not always possible or practicable in the field due to, for instance, a lack of space, harsh environments, or limitations on access to the device’s location. The drive will be stripped down and components thoroughly inspected and cleaned, and any components replaced according to the device’s maintenance schedule, or if they show signs of premature wear. The drive is then functionally tested before being shipped back to the customer. Customers benefit from:

  • Fast turnaround, with most drives returned, typically within a couple of weeks, from ABB’s Coalville workshop
  • Preventive maintenance and/or repairs carried out for functioning or non-functioning drives
  • Only genuine spare parts used
  • Access to factory-backed testing and diagnostic tools exclusive to ABB-certified workshops
  • Drives serviced on-site where possible
  • Detailed technical report provided including full diagnosis, underlying cause analysis and future preventive recommendations

Workshop services include:

Inspection and diagnostics – This service identifies the future maintenance needs of your drives by measuring and analysing their condition and application. The diagnostics will provide information on the drives’ current condition, the environmental impacts acting on them, or the cause of any failure. The service will supply recommendations that will help to keep your drives in optimal condition.

Preventive maintenance – Regular preventive maintenance is an investment that helps to avoid failures. The program can eliminate disruptions to production, help to cut operating costs, and secure your long-term competitiveness. It includes a full inspection, thorough cleaning, full-load testing and component replacement according to the maintenance schedule. Replaced components come with a one-year warranty.

Standard workshop repair – The standard repair service is used when a major fault needs to be corrected. It includes visual inspection, thorough cleaning, fault-finding analysis, genuine replacement parts, functional full-load test, service report, and proper packing. The work is carried out in a clean environment with electrostatic discharge protection. Replaced components come with a one-year warranty.

This year, an upgrade to ABB’s workshop facility in Coalville will see a range of new services added, including Premium Repair and reconditioning.
