TE Connectivity (TE) participated in a special ceremony to mark the production of the 50,000th Roboshot moulding press produced by FANUC Corporation. Yoshiharu Inaba, president and CEO of FANUC Corporation formally handed over the 50,000th Roboshot to Minoru Okamoto, TE senior advisor to the CEO, in recognition of TE's role as a key supplier. TE components make up almost 100 per cent of the connector content in these moulding presses. The 50,000th Roboshot is to go to TE's Gateway Plant in Thailand.
First introduced over two decades ago, Roboshot was the first fully electric molding machine in the world, offering a cleaner, more energy efficient unit with greater accuracy and repeatability - a major improvement in the moulding industry. As connector miniaturisation began rapidly evolving, the new Roboshot electric injection technology allowed for thin-wall moulded components to be moulded faster and more accurately than the conventional mechanical/hydraulic moulding presses. Since the Roboshot's introduction, TE and FANUC have worked together closely to further improve moulding technology by addressing quality and cost challenges as well as changing market needs.
