FDA-compliant optical level switch for aqueous liquids

Sick (UK) is launching the MHF15 FDA-compliant optical level switch for use with aqueous liquids. Designed for robust level monitoring of a range of liquid media, the sensor is suitable for a variety of applications, including tank level monitoring or dry-running protection for pumps.

The cost-effective plug-and-play instrument, which requires no calibration and minimal maintenance, can be used for overfill protection and low-level indication in tanks. A normally-open or normally-closed transistor output is provided for use as an input to PLCs or relay modules.

Due to its compact design, the MHF15 is suitable for difficult installations or conditions with limited space. Featuring a robust stainless steel housing and polysulfone apex, the switch is protected to IP67 and IP69K - even during caustic washdowns.

Ease of mounting and sealing of the vessel is assured due to use of a standard G1/2inch process connection and NBR seal.

Reliable and easy to use

Darren Pratt, a UK instrumentation product specialist at Sick, says: "The MHF15 is based on our proven optical technology. This has allowed us to create a robust yet versatile sensor for point level detection, which can be used with a variety of liquid colours and viscosities, with an emphasis on total reliability and ease of use.

"As it requires no medium calibration, the switch is quick to commission and enables significant savings in terms of both time and cost for refit or new installations."

The MHF15 is the latest addition to Sick's expanding portfolio of industrial instrumentation products, which now includes numerous sensor technologies for monitoring level, pressure, flow and temperature.
