Festo will be showcasing its pneumatic, handling and positioning, process automation and control technologies on stand 444 at Making Pharmaceuticals, 26-27 April.
Visitors to the stand will be able to see innovations including the DFPD quarter turn actuator, a VZQA pneumatic pinch valve and the EXCM planar surface gantry as well as learning how they can develop their automation while improving quality and productivity at many stages of their manufacturing process. The company supports pharmaceutical manufacturers with laboratory and process automation in primary and secondary production and packaging. Its equipment is suitable for use in processes in the manufacture of active ingredients, final production or parenteral filling in the clean room.
Festo will be exhibiting its new VZQA pneumatic pinch valves that provide reliable control and shut off in production processes. The valves are durable, energy efficient, easy to service, and flexible, thanks to their simple construction, and as a result provide a cost effective alternative to conventional valves such as diaphragm and ball valves.
The DFPD, a new quarter-turn actuator, will also be on display. The compact design is easy to clean and mount, saving installation time and space. The actuator has an aluminium housing and provides high corrosion resistance, while delivering a long service life with low wear thanks to an innovative pressure-dependent lip seal. It has configurable swivel direction which gives increased flexibility to fulfil the demands of all process valve types.
In addition, the EXCM electric planar surface gantry which is suitable for laboratory automation tasks will be shown. Using this classic 3D handling system, loads of up to several hundred grams can be precisely and safely moved. The EXCM covers a maximum working space of 360 × 700mm for the movements in the XY direction and it is coupled with an electric axis EGSK for the vertical Z movement for strokes of up to 100mm. The system is completed by stepper motors, motor controllers as well as a multi-axis controller.
The company's training division, Festo Training & Consulting, also supports manufacturers through the development of competencies in the areas of technology, lean production, and management and people skills.
