Through rapid take-up across diverse market sectors, thermal imaging is becoming increasingly affordable. Flir Systems has been a driving force behind this change and, as the trend continues to stimulate demand, many companies are seeing the huge potential offered by this technology. One such business with the ambition to develop thermal imaging as part of its test and measurement product portfolio is SJ Electronics.
This Kettering-based supplier has been appointed by Flir Systems as a new UK distributor for three of its camera series. The SJ Electronics range extends from the find-it-fix-it InfraCAM through to the ThermaCAM E-series that provides a greater degree of sophistication for post-survey analysis. The company will also supply the ThermoVision A-series cameras that are primarily used in electronics research, process and production control applications.
As a preferred supplier to virtually all UK universities, SJ Electronics received several enquiries for Flir Systems cameras from its academic customers. MD Melvin Crane explains: "We contacted Flir Systems as a result of this interest, and both companies felt they could gain from each other's expertise. The InfraCAM and ThermaCAM cameras are obviously a good fit alongside our test and measurement equipment, while the ThermoVision range will meet the need of many research applications."
SJ Electronics already had infrared cameras as part of its product portfolio thanks to its association with suppliers of electronics test and measurement equipment. However, with the introduction of the Flir Systems range, it now feels it has the technological edge.
Melvin Crane concludes: "We have always sought to represent the market leader for all the technologies we offer. Just as we chose Tektronix for the best oscilloscopes, we are looking to Flir Systems to provide us with the best thermal imaging cameras. Representing Flir Systems is a feather in our cap."
