Fluid absorption plug could be handy if you're moving machines
The Essentra Components Fluid Absorption Plug is designed to control any excess residue of fluid in an assembly such as a machine, gearbox or other oil filled mechanism which has had its oil drained for transport, maintenance or perhaps an installation process. The absorption plug's sturdy plastic peak allows for quick and easy installation and removal, says Essentra, saving time and costs. Simply push in - the foam expands to form a firm interference fit - then just pull out when required.
Essentra reckon it is safer, easier and cleaner than a conventional plug and that the new absorption plug provides a temporary seal which prevents damage when a permanent seal is not desirable. Thus, it ensures that leaks during manufacturing or transit are contained and do not cause any damage to packaging or delicate surfaces. The company believes that the plug provides a universal solution to a long-standing problem of oil residue left in place (faced by engine and gearbox manufacturers in particular). Leftover residue during transit can lead to the contamination of other essential machinery, resulting in damage and potential additional costs for manufacturers.
