Staff at GB Innomech joined with customers, suppliers and other guests at a special event on 17 July 2009 to celebrate the company receiving The Queen's Award for Enterprise 2009.
The event opened with a tour of Innomech's award-winning, environmentally-friendly headquarters, known as The Innovation Centre, and was followed by a speech from Mr Hugh Duberly CBE, Lord Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire. Mr Duberly praised the company for its sustained growth in international trade and for winning the highest award that can be given to any UK business. Then, as the Queen's official representative, he presented a special lead crystal bowl to David Beale, Innomech's chairman and founder.
Steve Robertson, managing director, said: "The Queen's Award is the direct result of everyone working closely with our customers and suppliers in developing breakthrough performance equipment and providing excellent after-sales support. Today's event has been the perfect opportunity to say 'thank you'."
Innomech specialises in automating highly complex and labour-intensive manufacturing, inspection and testing processes in production plants to improve quality, increase throughput and reduce costs. The company works with multiple technologies but has particular expertise in precision powder handling and dispensing within in the pharmaceutical industry and other sectors. In addition to its design, manufacture and supply services, Innomech provides full installation, on-site training, testing and support to customers across the world. The USA and Japan are major markets and the company has recently started installing systems in China, Taiwan and India.
Having announced that it had won the Queen's Award for Enterprise in April 2009, Innomech waited until the summer to host an event for staff and invited guests. The award recognises the company's contribution and growth in international trade but also considers its role within the local community, environmental impact and the quality of its relationships with suppliers, partners, employees and customers.
