Hall Effect rotary position sensor for harsh environments
Variohm EuroSensor is launching a new range of durable Hall Effect rotary position sensors with an extensive selection of configuration options that make them suitable for a wide range of harsh environment angle measurement applications. Aimed at manufacture and test in automotive, marine and agricultural equipment as well as industrial machine building and material handling, these long life non-contacting sensors have a full turn capability of 360 degrees and can be specified for standard electrical angles from 15 degrees to 360 degrees in 15 degree increments with programmable single and dual output angles available with some I/O options.
The non-contact Hall Effect technology sensor provides a 12-bit resolution with an accuracy of +/- 0.6 per cent over the programmed full stroke with high resilience to shock and vibration and a very application-useful operating temperature range of -40 to +125degC. With a ratiometric output signal from a 5V supply and flying lead cable connection, the standard 9960 offering has a fully sealed IP67 polycarbonate housing with an optional IP69K version that suits very wet, dusty and dirty environments. The compact sensor includes bronze sleeve bearings and features a very neat slotted drive for use with bladed shafts for ease of installation. A wide range of customisation options are available on request - from special lead lengths and connector options to alternative voltage and current outputs.
