ABB's SafeGear medium-voltage, arc-resistant (AR) switchgear is now infrared-friendly, thanks to the incorporation of Arc-Resistant Hawk IR Sightglasses. The 15kV SafeGear has been successfully Arc-Fault tested to a maximum of 50kA with 3-inch C-Range Hawk IR Sightglasses installed.

Hawk IR and ABB jointly conducted tests at the KEMA facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to both ANSI C37.20.7 2001 (USA) and EEMAC G14-1 1987 (Canada) in January 2007 for compliance throughout North America.

As a result, ABB now offers the 3-inch C-Range Hawk IR Sightglasses to increase thermographer safety while maintaining the integrity of SafeGear AR switchgear.
