HBM is now offering a certified Device Type Manager (DTM) for its digiCLIP measuring amplifier models, which enables FieldDevice Tool technology (FDT) to be used.
The DTM for the digiCLIP amplifier has been certified by the Conformance Office of the FDT Joint Interest Group and is included in the list of certified devices (www.fdtgroup.org/de/product-catalog/certified-dtms). Only devices that have proven capability for field applications and which meet the FDT standards are published on the list.
HBM's digiCLIP amplifiers use carrier frequency measurement technology and are suitable for noise-free measurements of parameters such as force, strain, torque and pressure in industrial automation applications.
The Field Device Tool technology (FDT) ensures standardised parameterisation of field devices from different manufacturers. It is a function and interface definition that simplifies engineering processes in automation technology. The Device Type Manager (DTM) is at the core of this technology and is made available by the manufacturers of field devices as a standardised driver.
Using DTM enables efficient system asset management - irrespective of the manufacturer or fieldbus protocol. With FDT technology, measuring amplifiers can be parameterised and administered centrally, together with other field devices. Current data can also be read simultaneously and visualised in a higher-order system.
HBM's digiCLIP amplifier and the associated FDT technology have been introduced in a number of applications such as printing presses. The DTM for the digiCLIP amplifier is supplied on a CD with every module and can also be downloaded free of charge from www.hbm.com/en/menu/products/industrial-amplifiers.
