HBM makes its stand at the Automotive Testing Show

HBM will be exhibiting its eDrive testing offering for effective analysing of electric machines and drives, together with its data acquisition range, on Stand 134 at this year's Automotive Testing Show on the 14th and 14th September.

HBM makes its stand at the Automotive Testing Show

Taking place at Ricoh Arena in Coventry, The Automotive Testing Show is a complete automotive engineering technical event designed for anyone involved in power train development, vehicle development, simulation, NVH, software engineering, calibration or controls.

For those who are interested in measuring the performance and efficiency of electric motors and invertors, HBM will be exhibiting its eDrive Test System, which is a robust and integrated system.

The eDrive testing system combines HBM's T12 or T40 Torque Senor, the most accurate torque transducers in each respective class; the GEN3i Data Acquisition System; and, as an option, the Quantum 1609B Temperature Satellite, to provide synchronous, dynamic and continuous acquisition of mechanical and electrical signals from an electric drive system. In addition to making temperature, torque and rotational measurements, the eDrive testing system can also make measurements from as many as 18 current and voltage channels at voltages up to 1000V, at a sampling rate of up to 2MS/s.

Furthermore, the system incorporates an intuitive eDrive software GUI which has been developed exclusively for electric motor and inverter testing and for noise immunity. In addition to providing raw data, the innovative system from HBM provides real-time results, such as true, reactive and apparent power and efficiency calculations.

Mike Hoyer, HBM Applications Engineer comments: "HBM's eDrive package is the only completely integrated test solution on the market that allows engineers to record, verify and study both electrical and mechanical parameters under dynamic conditions."

Visitors to the show are also invited to come and find out more about theSoMat XR rugged and flexible data acquisition system, which has been specifically developed for use in harsh environments, and the QuantumX data acquisition range for reliable data acquisition, both from HBM.

As test engineers require highly precise and repeatable test results, which often need to be acquired in adverse and harsh conditions, testing vehicles can often present a challenge. However, with more and more emphasis being placed on improving performance, the need to utilise a modern data acquisition system which offers a reliable and robust measurement capability, which can be easily adapted to perform a variety of measurement tasks, under a variety of conditions, seems to be the most obvious solution - good measurement data is, after all, essential for optimising design.

HBM provide a full range of strain gauges, transducers and data acquisition instrumentation and software which can be used in a wide range of applications in the automotive industry.
