Henkel at Southern Manufacturing 2014
It's a powerful combination - Henkel's design and applications expertise and its wide range of structural adhesives under the Loctite brand. On its stand at Southern Manufacturing 2014, Henkel will be highlighting this 360 Degrees Structural Bonding Programme and giving advice on the five adhesive technologies that form its core Loctite structural adhesives range and the dispensing equipment that assures optimal application.
Loctite structural bonding has become an integral part of today's industrial production processes as it offers significant advantages compared to - or in combination with - other fastening methods such as stapling, riveting or welding.
It allows dissimilar materials to be joined, saves weight, seals joints and forms an insulating film to prevent contact corrosion. And as stress is distributed evenly over the entire bond face, greater static and dynamic strength is achieved.
Low-pressure moulding proved a popular feature at last year's Southern Manufacturing Show, and in 2014 Henkel will again be emphasising its merits. To demonstrate its ability to encapsulate delicate components, Henkel will be giving away Technomelt encapsulated USB sticks that will also contain technical and application data on the technology.
Technomelt moulding - formerly Macromelt - is a class between casting and injection. It is non-aggressive, highly cost effective and fast. And as low pressures are involved, lower cost mould tools can be used and even surface mount components and lead free soldering safely enclosed.
Speed is another major Technomelt advantage over traditional potting methods. Indeed, this technology has the potential to deliver significant productivity gains for a low capital investment.
