Hygienic pressure transmitters in a choice of formats
Sick's new PHT hygienic pressure transmitters are designed for accurate process control and high-reliability plant protection in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic manufacturing applications.
Launched as a flagship product of Sick's new Industrial Instrument Division, the PHT series includes absolute, gauge and compound pressure measurement. The sanitary design features a flush-mounted 316L (1.4435) stainless steel diaphragm that is free of gaps and dead spaces.
Darren Pratt, a Sick (UK) product specialist, comments: "Hygiene suitability in food and beverage processing is critical, and the PHT is designed for rigorous clean-in-place [CIP] and sterilisation-in-place [SIP] regimes. The PHT will withstand high-pressure steam with temperatures to 150degC and regular cleaning with harsh detergents; ingress protection to IP67 and IP68 makes sure of a long, reliable life."
Options
The PHT series covers low-pressure applications from 0-0.25bar, for applications such as measuring hydrostatic levels in storage vessels, to 0-25bar for fluid filling and pumping duties, as commonly encountered in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
A wide selection of hygiene process connections includes Tri-clamp, DIN 11851, DIN 11864, ISO-clamp, NUEMO BioConnect/BioControl and Varivent connections, with EHEDG certification and 3-A Sanitary Standards pending. The ultra-smooth 0.4micron finish to the wetted surfaces ensures optimum cleanability, and the transmitter fill fluid is FDA-compliant.
Characterised by extreme versatility, with over 10,000 possible variants, the range is designed to suit virtually any plant configuration. A choice of electrical outputs is available to match customers' control systems, including 4-20mA, 0-10V and 0-5V analogue outputs, and wiring options include an M12 connector, standard cable exit and right-angled spade connector (DIN 175301-803A).
The new PHT pressure transmitter has been unveiled on Stand No C50 at the 2009 PPMA show, as part of a selection of new hygiene-certificated instruments from Sick (UK)'s new Industrial Instruments Division, which offers a comprehensive range of level, pressure, flow and temperature instrumentation for the processing industries.
Pratt states: "Our aim is to provide innovative instruments with all of Sick's quality reputation at an economic value acceptable to process engineers.
