Following its recent acquisition of The Ewellix Group, there is now one of the most comprehensive portfolios of linear motion products under the Schaeffler umbrella. This provides machine builders and design engineers with broader opportunity for their linear motion needs, as well as unrivalled expertise in linear technologies.

The purchase of the global manufacturer and supplier of linear technology components and systems strengthens Schaeffler’s market position, particularly in the linear business. Ewellix is a market leader in multiple areas of technology, including electromechanical industrial actuators and lifting columns, as well as roller screws.

The Ewellix Group’s product range is highly complementary to the existing product portfolio in Schaeffler’s industrial division. Ewellix’s sales and R&D teams and its six production and customising sites will work closely with the Schaeffler industrial team to realise synergies.

Linear technology promises to be a major driver of growth within the global industrial technology business over the coming years. The shared focus in this area is on high-growth sectors of the market, such as industrial automation, robotics, medical technology, the food and drinks industry, and mobile machinery.

The Ewellix Group is a leading manufacturer and supplier of linear actuators with over 50 years in the business. The company combines leading-edge design and development with proven expertise in manufacturing, customer-centric applications engineering, and digitalisation. Its core products include actuators, lifting columns, robot range extenders, ball and roller screws.

Premium ceramic components

Schaeffler has also acquired Ceraspin from the Ceratizit Group. Based in Livange, Luxembourg, Ceraspin has over 25 years’ experience in the development and production of premium ceramic products, the majority of which are processed into rolling elements for various bearing applications.

The bearings manufactured on the basis of this technology are used in a wide range of strategic growth areas, including wind energy, rail, aerospace, medical equipment, electrical engineering, and vacuum pumps for the semiconductor industry. Rolling bearings with ceramic components are characterised by low friction, reduced wear, and particularly high accuracy and precision. They are also increasingly used in applications designed to protect mechanical components against electrical current passage. The acquisition of Ceraspin further enhances Schaeffler’s position in areas of strategic importance for the future.
