igus UK will be showcasing its new high-performance tribo-polymer bearings, energy chains and cables at Engineering Design Show, on stand D10. Visitors to the stand will be able to see live demonstrations of its maintenance-free products including new stock plates, xiros ball bearings and robolink robotic system, which are cost-effective and reliable options for designers and engineers. Visitors will also have the opportunity of meeting the polymer experts to learn how to optimise processes and reduce costs through innovative use of plastic components.
igus' new stock plates promise to increase design flexibility for engineers when customising special parts. As result of using the new iglidur J stock plate material, designers can obtain machined parts such as wear plates and strips easily and cost-effectively with less waste.
The new stock plate material comes in sheets rather than the standard round bars and is available in a variety of thicknesses from 2mm to 25mm. It is made from igus' reliable iglidur J material which boasts low coefficients of friction in dry operation, low moisture absorption, wear and chemical resistance while requiring no maintenance. The stock plate material is also suitable for parts that need to withstand temperatures from -50degC to 120degC.
In addition, igus will be showing its range of xiros bearings. Available in five standard igus materials, the xiros range of bearings is suitable for a variety of applications, ranging from medical equipment, pumps and measurement machines, through to transport and conveying technology - particularly in the industrial sectors of chemicals, food, laboratory equipment and packaging.
Lubricant and maintenance-free over their entire lifetime, xiros polymer ball bearings can endure temperatures of up to +150degC, are highly corrosion resistant, can be washed and cleaned, are non-magnetic and are light weight. The plastic ball bearings have excellent friction coefficients to give high performance and long service life, even in the most demanding of applications. As a result, users can make overall cost savings compared with conventional metal ball bearings.
Another highlight on igus' stand is robolink, a simple, lightweight and cost-effective robotic system, which is now available with six degrees of freedom. Maintenance and corrosion-free, it is suitable for use in areas of general lightweight construction, handling and automation. The six-axis unit is available completely assembled on a rugged aluminium sub-frame and with igus' step motors to reliably drive the robot.
Experts from igus UK will be on hand to provide advice and guidance on selecting energy chains, bearings and cabling assemblies for your own specific application.
