igus launches heavy duty igubal clip spherical bearings

igus UK is launching a new heavy duty version of its robust igubal clip spherical bearings. The easy-to-fit heavy duty bearings can withstand high loads, provide exceptional rotational, linear or swivelling movements, and as they are plastic do not require regular maintenance. As a result, downtime is avoided and the low weight ensures clearly energy-efficient operation.

The heavy duty plastic bearings are corrosion free, chemical resistant and impervious against dirt and dust, which means they are reliable and provide a long life in arduous environments. The new range has been developed for machines and plant systems that have a minimum of available space and the cost-effective bearings can be fitted easily, simply clipping into place with no additional axial securing. They are suitable for applications where the bearing position is accessible from one side only, for example in closed machine housings or in a façade.

Very compact and designed to be fitted into sheets with a thickness of 4-8mm, the lightweight bearings can absorb loads up to 12.5kN radially and 350N axially. The pre-tension of collar and locating lug compensates the clearance in two axes. The new spherical bearings with shaft diameters of 8 and 10 are available from stock within 24 hours, and shaft diameters of 12 and 20mm are being developed.

Matthew Aldridge, director at igus UK, says: "The lifetime of igus igubal clips can be calculated which, together with the availability of various bearing materials available offers designers great flexibility and safety in their application. The self-adjusting and maintenance-free plastic bearings from the igubal family are very easy to fit, they compensate angular deviations and are ideal alternatives to metallic bearings in many applications".
