igus products for extreme conditions at Offshore Europe 2015

At this year's Offshore Europe, igus will be showcasing a variety of its products that meet the demands of the oil & gas industry. Focuses will include DNV GL-certified chainflex cables and complementary e-chain cable carriers, as well as the new iglidur X bearing range and multi-purpose tribo-tape. Visitors to the igus stand, 3A130, will be able to see demonstrations of these products and have the opportunity to meet industry experts to discuss the latest products.

igus energy chains are manufactured from high-performance plastics, making them tough, resistant to corrosion and impact and offering high UV, temperature and precipitation stability. Also available in ATEX-ESD-compliant versions, the heavy-duty e-chain has been tested to function consistently, even at extreme temperatures and in adverse weather conditions, making them well suited for supplying energy right to the ocean floor.

In addition, igus will be showing its DNV GL (Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd) certified chainflex cables. A number of these cables are also NEK606 offshore rated, meaning they are halogen free and mud resistant.

Offering high chemical resistance, excellent compressive strength and low humidity absorption, the abrasion resistance of iglidur X bearings increases with temperature, making them very wear resistant over the entire operating temperature range, from -100degC to +250degC. Available in sizes up to 120mm diameter, iglidur X is offered as cylindrical sleeve bearings, plain bearings with flange and thrust washers.

Another new product being unveiled during the show will be iglidur tribo-tape. Made of a tribologically optimised plastic, the tape is a wear, media and temperature-resistant surface lining that can be applied to any working surface to improve sliding properties. tribo-tape is available in two materials: the wear resistant iglidur A160 for temperatures up to 100degC and the highly wear-resistant iglidur V400 that withstands upper long-term application temperatures of +200degC and is very resistant to chemicals. Available in widths of 120mm and 500mm, igus tribo-tape is only 0.5mm thick (including adhesive back 0.65mm), therefore the application space requirement is very low.
