igus has developed its innovative multiple-axis joint for robots, robolink. This product, which recently won the prestigious "iF product design award', has now been improved further to meet the increasing diverse needs of engineers and designers. The upgrade includes a base joint, consisting of wire pulleys, that is able to withstand a six axis system, making it possible to build up smaller systems with axis links.
robolink has been carefully designed by igus to live up to the company's mantra of "˜plastics for long life'. At the very heart of its modular system are state-of-the-art lightweight, maintenance and corrosion-free joints with tribologically optimised plastic bearings that are driven via cables and able to rotate freely. These characteristics make robolink very versatile and suitable for a variety of applications ranging from underwater vehicle operations to humanoid robots for explosive equipment handling.
