Igus will use Southern Manufacturing to promote its proprietary iglidur material that is now available as bar stock. Developed by Igus for use in its energy chains and self-lubricating polymer bearings, the high-performance polymer material is suitable for low-wear machined components. In addition to offering bar stock to customers, Igus is now able to produce small quantities of machined special bearings to order.
Also being shown at Southern Manufacturing is a new range of highly flexible bus cables capable of high-speed data transmission - and therefore suitable for machine vision applications. For transmission over longer distances - up to several hundred metres - fibre optic cables are also available.
Energy chains to carry power and data cables to and from moving machinery elements are core products for Igus. On show at Southern Manufacturing will be a new range of polymer energy chains for metal cutting machines and similar applications. The polymer material used will not be damaged even when subjected to hot swarf at temperatures of up to 850degC.
Igus will be on Stand P31 at Southern Manufacturing on 6 and 7 February 2008 at FIVE, Farnborough.
