Innovative pool covers use MiniTec profile system

A new type of pool cover has been developed by French company, Walter Pool. Needing a frame that was versatile, stable and weather resistant, and would all for easy on-site assembly, the company turned to MiniTec.

Private pools are becoming increasingly popular in the UK. However, especially with smaller gardens, it is often the question of space. After all, you want to swim for fun, but not at the expense of losing your garden or terrace. Also, there is the safety aspect to consider – when the pool is not in-use, safety and protection against accidents is paramount, especially for young families.

Founded in 1992, Walter Pool has extensive experience going back 28 years in the design and manufacture of covers for swimming pools and spas. Its new product ‘WaluDeck Flat’ is actually a terrace that slides over the pool and serves an additional terrace space, as well as protection from the pool when not in use. The system is usable all year round and offers the best protection with optimal use of space. The pool becomes a playground, a place to relax or a place to eat under the open sky.

Flexible, stable and weather resistant

To move forward with the concept, Walter Pool needed a versatile, stable and weather-resistant solution which allowed for the various dimensions, depending on customer requirements. The decision was an easy one, where Walter Pool quickly came to realise that MiniTec profile was the only solution due to its ideal modular concept.

After developing a prototype and presenting it at trade fairs, the solution is now included in the Walter Pool product range. There are two models, one for spas with the maximum dimensions of 3000 mm x 3000 mm with a maximum load of 300 kg in the middle of the cover, the other for standard pools with the maximum dimensions 6000 mm x 4000 mm, and a central load capacity of 500 kg.

When it came to marketing the product, the advantages of the MiniTec construction kit come into play. Due to the easy of construction, the company was able to offer a home-build kit for the keen DIYers, allowing the customer to receive the full construction kit, including MiniTec aluminium profile and allowing customers to build all of this in the comfort of their own home.
